Marousi (officially called Amarousion) is the seat of the Municipality of Amarousio and is located in the center of the North Section of Athens, in the Athenian Field of Attica. It occupies an area of 13 square Km. and its population is of 72.333 inhabitants.

The modern settlement is located at an altitude of 230 meters, 2 kilometers south of Kifissia and 11 kilometers northeast of the center of Athens, and is surrounded by the regional municipalities of Penteli, Vrilissia, Psychiko, Nea Ionia, Hera Ionia, Nea Ionia.

Within Marousi you can find one of the biggest forests in Athens, called “Dasos Syngrou” (also “Alsos Syggrou”). Also, in the southwestern part of the municipality you can find the Athens Olympic Sports Complex, the largest sports complex in Greece, built for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
